In a major consolidation in the UK disaster recovery market, Guardian Computer Services Ltd of Weybridge has bought Computer Stand-By Ltd of Leicester on undisclosed terms. The two companies, with aggregate revenue of about 19m British pounds, are an almost perfect fit because Guardian offers recovery services on ICL Plc, Digital Equipment Corp, Hewlett-Packard Co, Data General Corp, Sun Microsystems Inc, Sequent Computer Systems Inc, Pyramid Technology Corp, Silicon Graphics Inc and whatever is left of Prime Computer Inc, while Computer Stand-By does IBM Corp AS/400 and RS/6000, and Tandem Computers Inc and Compagnie des Machines Bull SA DPS7 and Unix. Computer Stand-By sites are in Leicester and Paris and Guardian are in Portsmouth, Hitchen, Leeds and the City of London. And both subcontract their consultancy to SMH Associates Plc of Wokingham. The vendor of Computer Stand-By was H Flude Holdings Ltd, a conglomerate in Hinchley, Leicestershire.
