The consortium led by British Telecommunications Plc and including GEC Plc’s GEC Marconi Secure Systems and GPT Strategic Communications Systems, and Lockhed Martin Corp on Friday was awarded the $1.55bn 10-year contract to provide a national fixed telecommunications network for the UK armed forces.
