China’s sales of personal computers are seen growing by 40% in 1997 to 2.25 million units, the Economic Daily said. Some 450,000 to 500,000 computers would be bought for home use, the newspaper said. Well-known brands of domestic computers would account for about 32% of the market while foreign brands would capture 40%, it said. The software market would swell by 35% to 40% in 1997 while printer sales were seen hitting 1.1 million units, the newspaper said but it offered no further details.
