ON Technology Corp, the Cambridge, Massachusetts developer of network security, network management and group communications software that added the name of Lotus Development Corp founder Mitch Kapor to its letterhead some time ago, has definitive agreement to acquire Purview Technologies Inc, Sewickly, Pennsylvania for about $2.2m in cash and shares. Purview provides of Internet management software to enable data processing and network administration staff to establish Internet access controls, monitor workstation usage patterns and identify the Internet sites that users access. Its Purview Internet Manager can be used to record each Universal Resource Locator that a user visits, and it also can be used to block access to specific sites that the company does not want visited.
