RTime Inc is promoting its Interactive Networking Engine with the announcement of RTime Rocks!, a 50-player, 50-spectator demonstration game developed for the internet. The Engine is a networking system for games developers that lets them convert existing games to run on-line and or build interactive, multiplayer games for the internet. Rocks! is a three dimensional spaceship game in which players fly through a containment field shooting asteroids and ships flown by other players across the Internet. The Engine is software-based and supports various game genres, including fast-action twitch games, simulation, real- time strategy and role-playing games, the Seattle, Washington- based company said. RTime’s networking software came out of experience on the SIMNET project for the US Government. SIMNET simulates combat training and was used to train troops for the Gulf War through interactive battle simulations.
