Computer Mail Services Inc has announced a new version of its S.Bridge NT Internet Connector, a Windows-based local area network-based electronic-mail-to-Internet gateway. Version 1.8 – includes advanced virus scanning-enabling technology, supporting Windows-based NT products from McAfee Associates Inc and Sophos Ltd. It also adds Internet gateway support for Novell MHS-based electronic mail systems, such as Da Vinci E-Mail and Beyond Mail. It ships next month. S.Bridge NT provides message translation between the proprietary local area messaging format and the standard SMTP Simple Message Transfer Protocol format used over the Internet. It has a built-in SMTP mail relay, which enables message and file transfer without additional SMTP mail relays, bridges, routers, or workstation protocol managers.
