Late last year the National Bank of Kazakhstan signed a contract with two Almaty based computer companies, JV Glotur and Tokrau Ltd, to implement a pilot document management system at the Bank. Under the contract, the two companies will provide a solution including hardware, software development, maintenance, installation and training. Its total value is slightly more than $200,000. The system will be based on Lotus Notes and should be finished at the end of the second quarter 1997. Igor Grebenshchikov, responsible for the project at the National Bank, says this project could expand later to become an intranet, embracing not only the bank’s headquarters but also documents exchanged with its regional branches. There were initially four bidders for this contract: Glotur, Tokrau, ComputerLand Almaty and Izet Ltd. After considering their proposals, the National Bank’s tender commission decided that Glotur’s and Tokrau’s proposals complemented each other and that two companies should work together.
