Performance Technologies Inc has purchased the design and manufacturing rights to Unix integrator Artecon Corp’s line of SBus and PCI bus controller products and their associated software. The Rochester, New York-based supplier of networking systems and communications products, says that now it has the Artecon products on board it will be able to offer customers what it claims is a comprehensive suite of communications, mass storage and network interface solutions. The Artecon products are asynchronous controllers for high-speed Internet connections that will be combined with SBus SCSI controllers for RAID storage devices, and with Performance Technologies’ existing products to serve the Sun Microsystems Inc and into the general Unix markets. San Diego, California-based Artecon approached Performance Technologies about the Sbus and PCI products, having sold them itself for around five years.
