Accton Technology Corp has come to the aid of bandwidth- restricted Intranets and small and medium enterprise networks, with the launch of its Fast EtherHub 3500 family of modular, stackable Fast Ethernet hubs. The Hubs are 12-port 100Base-T units that can operate as stand-alone devices or stacked to interconnect up to 72 Fast Ethernet links, which enables them to take three times the normal bandwidth, the company said. There are currently two hubs available: the Fast EtherHub-12i and Fast EtherHub-12mi SNMP, which enables the entire infrastructure to be managed as a single device. SNMP monitoring is handled through Accton’s patented Flexbus 3500 connector. By using this tri- segment approach, users get maximum data throughput at minimal cost, the company said. The per-port pricing for the Fast EtherHub 3500 starts at $183. The Fast EtherHub-12i retails for $2,200 and the Fast EtherHub-12mi costs around $3,200.
