Cyrix Corp, which launched its long-awaited M2 chip in competition with Intel Corp’s Pentium 2 on Friday, apparently used to have a tombstone inscribed Intel Inside – RIP in its lobby in Richardson, Texas, according to a long profile piece in the Wall Street Journal. It’s gone now that former chief executive officer Jerry Rogers has left, and temporary chief executive officer Jay Swent, also the chief finance officer, has a much more conciliatory view of Intel.
