Asymetrix Corp has licensed Object Design Inc’s ObjectStore PSE for Java and will bundle it with its SuperCede Rapid Application Development environment (CI No 2,947). The addition will enable the development of scaleable Java applications, Bellevue, Washington-based Asymetrix believes. SuperCede offers a combined Java and C++ environment and enables developers to modify programs while they are running. Asymetrix says the addition of ObjectStore, which enables the management and storage of Java objects, gives developers the ability to make their Java objects persistent and portable over the Internet. Jim Billmaier, president and chief executive at Asymetrix, says the combination of ObjectStore PSE and SuperCede gives a means for building high performance, distributed applications that can be transported across the Internet. ObjectStore PSE is written entirely in Java, and Asymetrix says it is the first native persistent storage tool available for Java developers which is cheap to run and takes up only 250Kb.
