In case you were in any doubt that SAP AG’s R/3 took a really long time to install, the good news is that the company has come up with a technique called Accelerated SAP or ASAP for medium- sized companies, under which it is pre-configuring some of its complex software and offering customers a strategy for installing it rapidly. The bad news is that by year-end, those wanting merely to implement SAP’s financial software will find it still takes at least two months instead of the three to four months it currently takes, while purchasing and distribution software should take four months, the manufacturing suite should be installed in six months.
