The UK OS/2 user group recently held its inaugural meeting, and it was the start of what promises to be something big. Expecting 50 or 60 firms to be represented, QA Training Ltd, from Cirencester in Gloucestershire, which thought up the idea, welcomed over 350 people from as far afield as Norway, Sweden, Finland and Yugoslavia. Jim Watt of QA is pro-tem chairman of the group, which has decided against initial links with existing groups such as the IBM Computer Users Association, and kicked off some special interest groups on the OS/2 kernel; graphics; and OS/2 databases. Volunteers to serve on the council were sought and a provisional council will be set up by next meeting. A questionnaire was issued to establish the problems and requirements of the individual members; the results will set the agenda for the next meeting of the group.
