Monday June 20 is the date pencilled in by Compaq Computer Corp for its next launch, likely to include a Deskpro 386-25 to answer IBM’s 25MHz Model 70 – and Compaq is hinting that its own machine may be available a week or two before the IBM offering, which is scheduled for third quarter availability: Compaq is estimated to have 65% of the retail market for 386 machines, against 25% for the PS/2 Model 80.
