Unisys has signed a contract to provide IT and application outsourcing services to the City of Santa Clara, California. The five-year contract has an estimated value of approximately $20m. The city can extend the contract for an additional two years at its discretion.
Under the contract, Unisys will provide a full range of IT management and support and application services for the city government. The company claims that the services will support 15 city departments, administrative offices and utilities, helping more than 1,000 end users to serve the city’s 117,000 residents more effectively.
Unisys said that the services will include data centre and network management, 24-hour service desk, equipment provisioning and maintenance, and deskside services. Infrastructure monitoring will be provided through its Converged Remote Infrastructure Management offering, which provides a single, consolidated view of the IT infrastructure.
The company added that it will also offer application modernisation and support, including web development and architecture services, which will help the city consolidate its application environment, and make it easier for citizens to request services and do business with the city over the web.
Unisys further claimed that its departmental IT services and cross-functional services intends to make the city departments more efficient, integrate IT infrastructure and link interdepartmental applications to streamline government operations.
Sam Khanna, vice president and managing partner of North America, Unisys Global Outsourcing and Infrastructure Services, said: “Unisys is proud that the city of Santa Clara has selected us as its IT services partner. We have decades of experience helping public sector organisations use technology to serve citizens more cost-effectively, and we look forward to supporting the city of Santa Clara in achieving its public service goals.”
