The shares of two software companies, Borland International Inc and Micro Focus Plc have done investors proud in a pretty lousy year: the Financial Times points out that with a gain so far this year of 159.4%, Borland is the star performer among stocks quoted on the London International Stock Exchange – and makes it clear that not all stocks traded on the Unlisted Securities Market are dogs, while Micro Focus, now with a full listing, is the third best performer, up 77.8% and within sight of its all-time high before its big slump in 1985.
