Fujitsu has also begun commercial production of Digital Network Interface units conforming to the standards for transmission between digital PBAXs and multi-media multiplexers laid down by Japan’s Telecommunications and Telephone Committee (which is headed by the chairman of Toyota Motors, Eiji Toyoda): the new equipment is widely applicable for date transmission between mainframes and over local area networks; key feature of the Fujitsu offerings is that they are designed to simplify the wiring between optical local networks, central computers and multiplexers; the Telecommunications & Telephone Committtee standard lays down the standard for one 2Mbit-per-second digital line connecting a PABX to a multiplexer; Digital Network Interfaces are already being built into digital PABXs, computers and multi-media multiplexers, and by spring will appear in optical local nets.
