FKI Plc saw UKP15.1m profit on UKP389m turnover for the six months to September 28, down from the comparable period last year when the company reported turnover at UKP601.4m, and including an extraordinary item of UKP194m, profits of UKP230.1m. Results for the first half of 1989 included a four and a half months contribution from the Power and Projects Group, now trading as Babcock International. FKI’s three divisions – Automation, Transportation and Engineering – are in profit, reporting UKP11.8m, UKP9.3m and UKP13.4m respectively. Both Automation and Transportation were rationalised in the period and some facilities were closed down to reduce costs.
