Facing competition from two lusty young independents, International Digital Communications and International Telecom Japan, Kokusai Denshin Denwa Co is to cut its rates for international telephone service from Japan 14.3% from November 1: International Digital Communications, led by Cable & Wireless Plc and C Itoh & Co, is already offering service to the US and Hong Kong, with the UK and Singapore to follow shortly, with Taiwan following next year, while International Digital, also offering US and Hong Kong service, adds the UK, France and Singapore next month, and South Korea, Australia, West Germany and Taiwan are in the plan for 1990.
