The 3090 announcements IBM had pen-cilled in for last week got post-poned, and Electronic News reckons they won’t arrive now before early next year: the US trade weekly looks for the company to come out with an F upgrade for the 3090Es that will wind the clock up a nano-second or three to deliver 15% to 25% more performance, and suggests they may support 6Mbyte-per-second channels, though those will need the new MVS/XA release looked for next summer; the five-processor configuration – a 300 plus a 200 – may also be in the announcement; the paper also suggests that the new F models may not start shipping until about 12 months from now.
