Datadesk International Inc, which makes personal computer keyboards in Chatsworth, California has come up with the Switchboard, made up of independent modules that can be easily rearranged for optimum user performance: the thing can be used with both Apple Computer Inc and IBM personal computers and users can rearrange the basic modules into six different layouts so that the cursor keys can be on the right or the left, and separately-sold modules enable the cursor pad to be replaced with a trackball, or add a set of vertical function keys; the basic Switchboard has a 105-key layout with removable numeric, cursor and alpha keypads and the 24 keys on the macro/3270 module are user-programmable without requiring the use of RAM resident software; the thing is out in May at $240.
