Kyocera Corp has grown fat on the manufacture of ceramic casings for integrated circuits and Japanese companies dominate the market for the things, but US chipmakers would like a local source of supply and British Petroleum Co Plc – British Pete to the Americans, BP to the rest of us, plans to mobilise its Carborundum Co in Niagara Falls, New York for the $1,500m market.
