IBM’s disk miseries continue if the latest bit of gossip on the grapevine has any truth to it: word is that the 3390 disk drives – 15Gb and 22Gb on platters around 10.5 in diameter were scheduled for launch next Tuesday, but that the launch was cancelled at the beginning of this week, and put back to the autumn because the Dual Copy facility on the 3990-3 disk controller still isn’t ready; all of which means that International Data Corp, which has been contending that the things were never planned for launch before the autumn, may be proved right by default, for all the wrong reasons!
