Epicor Software has released Service Enterprises 8.2, a project based software platform designed for midmarket service organisations.

According to Epicor, the release expands capabilities offered to professional services firms, such as audit and accountancy practices, engineering and construction consultants, and embedded IT services groups, allowing them to manage detailed, project-based businesses.

Featuring in-context business intelligence, and enhanced functionality in the areas of finance, project planning, and sales management, Epicor for Service Enterprises 8.2 advances the performance and productive end-user experience of its project-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, the company claims.

The company said that new version refines controls for midmarket service providers involved in multiple and/or differing aspects of a given project, with the introduction of proxy users, greater task-level control, optional project revisions, billing, expense rules and indirect revenue recognition.

In addition, embedded analytical tools featuring a web portal and unified business intelligence suite support the need for end-to-end business insight, driven by the increasing need for accurate billing operations, and a focus on cost and margin management.

Malcolm Fox, senior manager of product marketing at Epicor, said: “The latest release of Epicor for Service Enterprises offers unparalleled functionality and flexibility for midmarket services organisations, providing comprehensive, yet easy to use tools across all aspects of a project-based enterprise. Epicor continually leverages the best practices of our customer base, to develop new features and capabilities in direct cooperation with end-users facing intricate business environments.”
