The Spanish division of Arthur Young is to set up a new computer aided software engineering company which will develop systems for, principally, insurance and industrial companies’ financial departments. The move follows a general strategy within accountancy firms in Spain – and elsewhere – to expand into the computer market because computer system consultancy comes as a natural extension to their other consultancy activities. Both Arthur Andersen and Price Waterhouse already have computer representatives in Spain, Coritel SA and SBS/Crestel SA respectively. The new company will start as a 100% Arthur Young subsidiary and will transfer technology from Arthur Young International in the US. The embryonic company is currently at the recruitment stage and is expected to open for business in a few months. It is expected to be called Arthur Young Informatic Engineering Systems SA.
