Informix Software Ltd of London EC4 has enhanced its Smartware 3.1 office automation package and says that SmartWare II is now challenging Lotus Development Corp Symphony for first place in the UK integrated market: the new package needs random access memory of 512Kb and has a hierarchical menu system; it supports 150 different types of printers and 20 types of plotter with 18 fonts and maximum printer resolution of 300 dots-per-inch; Smartware II will run on all machines running MS-DOS 2.0 up and a minimum 512Kb random access memory for single users and MS-DOS 3.1 with 640Kb memory for local area networks; it also requires a fixed disk with a minimum of 5Mb free space and a double-sided floppy: available as from June, the complete system costs UKP700 and upgrades from the 3.1 are UKP200, reduced for a limited period to UKP175.
