The US Air Force contract for 90,000 laptop computers has been hit with another setback, according to Microbytes Daily, which notes that the oft-delayed contract was originally to be awarded in February: latest hitch is the 100% tariff imposed on Japanese imports last month, which hit Toshiba, whose machine is one of the finalists in the bid: contract negotiations have now been reopened for some, but not all, of the bidders, and the award is now expected to be announced on August 14; one benefit of the hold-ups is that technology has marched on and the Air Force now expects to get a better box.
