Continuing its stated commitment to develop links and interfaces with third party code and applications generators, Index Technology Corp of Cambridge, Massachusetts has announced a link between its systems analysis and design software, Excelerator, and the Telon code generator marketed by Pansophic Systems Inc. Index claims to have the largest installed base of Personal Computer-based computer-aided software engineering tools for systems analysis and design, and its new XL/Interface Telon is the first product to enable third party analysis and design data to be transferred directly into the Telon programming environment. It enables Excelerator screen report designs to be passed to Telon for generation in Cobol or PL/I code. The Telon code generator is primarily used for developing online information systems which incorporate multiple screens and reports. The new product supports specialised graphs and dictionary entities – circle flow graphs – which are used to depict Telon applications. Circle flow graphs are supported in Telon documentation and training programs. XL/Interface Telon also provides interface programs which translate Excelerator screen and report information into the Telon file format. Software provided by Pansophic passes data into either mainframe or PC-DOS Telon. It is a utility that directly accesses Excelerator’s data dictionary and graphics files for communicating with mainframe data dictionaries, application generators, and custom analysis routines, the product was developed with Index’s Customizer and XL/Programmer Interface software. Customizer tailors Excelerator’s dictionary and user interface to work with organisations’ specific design data, analysis routines, interface products and other software design programs. Index is using the same products to develop links with other third party tools. A corporate licence for XL/Interface Telon is UKP6,600 and it is installed on top of an existing copy of Excelerator; ships start this quarter. Index’s European arm Excelerator Software Products of Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, markets its products throughout Europe.
