Bothell, Washington-based Emerald Technology, now part of Andrew Corp of Chicago, has extended its software for linking IBM AS/400 and System/38 and System/36 machines to alien environments. The company’s Emulator Transfer Utility now supports file transfer for Apple Macintosh computers and Unix-based machines as well as MS-DOS micros, and ships by the end of the month. Processors can be connected either locally or remotely and the emulator’s menu-driven interface enables users to pick transfer or translation operations from a list of supported options. For MS-DOS-based systems, path support has been included in the new version, so that files can be placed in a Unix or Macintosh directory. Users can direct file transfer operations without first changing directories, and the software now includes European language translation tables. The company gave no prices for it.
