The IBM Leasing division of IBM Canada is pioneering a leasing programme for PS/2 hardware, software, maintenance and services, Newsbytes says. The Maple Leaf subsidiary says that other IBM operations around the world are watching the experiment closely to see how it goes. IBM Leasing, the Canadian counterpart of IBM Credit Corp in the US, is offering three-, four-, and five- year leases on PS/2 systems – but the initial lease order must have a value equivalent to $20,000 mimumum but software, maintenance and other services can be included in the lease package, and the customer can choose between full-payout leases, in which the entire price of the kit is paid out over the lease term, and residual-value leases, in which IBM will retain the ownership in exchange for a lower lease rate.
