Why is it that British Telecom’s launch of its Phonepoint cordless phone system was so remarkably low key (see front)? Stands to reason – as widely reported, Cable & Wireless Plc has just poached John Carrington, Telecom’s Mobile chief, to head its Personal Network unit.
