VMX Inc, Dallas, Texas has announced the Multiple Link Gateway, as an enhancement to its line of call processing and voice messaging systems. The systems provide support of PABX and Centrex integrated voice messaging for up to 15 remote sites on a single VMX system: they also provide integration for multiple data communication applications using VMX’s Host Data Link, available on VMX 1000 and 5000 systems. The Integration application of the Gateway can be implemented in two environments, Centrex and mixed PABX networks. In Centrex, up to 15 central office sites can be supported by one VMX system, Dial 1000 or 5000; voice ports are connected from each Centrex directly to the VMX System and a Simplified Message Desk Interface integration data link is networked from each Centrex site to the central VMX system via the Gateway. In mixed networks a single VMX 1000/5000 system can be integrated with a number of remote multi-vendor PABXs; 14 different types of PABXs are supported by the Gateway, including systems from Rolm, IBM, AT&T Co, NEC, and Northern Telecom Inc. The product supports any configuration of up to 16 inbound plus outbound data ports. Multiple Link Gateway price will cost $16,000, including one of the two software options, or $20,000 for both options; release is set for the third quarter of 1989.
