The talks seeking to reach a settlement in the anti-dumping dispute over 3.5 floppy disks brought by Verbatim against three Japanese makers (CI No 1,017) were close to resolition as we closed for press Friday. Issues are the amount of damages, the level of punitive damages and the possible dropping of 2Mb disks from the suit, leaving only 1Mbs. Those in the know in the US are stocking up with disks in the expectation that many suppliers will pull out of the market.
