Target said that it has selected core vendor partners to assist in building and managing the new Target.com eCommerce platform.
The partners include Sapient, which will serve as the lead partner and integrator; IBM, which will provide the multichannel eCommerce platform; Oracle to provide the database platform; Endeca for search and navigation functionality; Autonomy for content and digital asset-management functionality; Sterling Commerce for global inventory visibility and cross-channel order-management functionality; and Huge to provide visual and interaction design.
In addition, the company will work with a portfolio of specialty vendors and its internal team, to support the development and management of the new site. It plans to launch its new web site before the 2011 holiday season. Until than Amazon will continue to provide the technology platform and fulfillment services for Target.com.
