The first time the 90X1 numbers turn up is with the pricing data: this shows that a 9021-340 costs $2.125m; a 9021-500 is $4.1m; a 9021-580 is $5.715m; a 9021-620 is $8.05m; the 9021-720 – equivalent to a 600J – is $10.545m; the four-processor Summit 9021-820 is $16.025m and the six-processor 9021-900 is $22.28m. The first five ship immediately, the latter two in the third quarter of next year. IBM claims that price-performance is improved up to 20% at the top-end – but the Summit models go into a new Model Group 70 and 80 for software pricing purposes. At the 4381 and 9370 level, IBM claims up to 50% better price-performance.
