London Specialist Software Systems Ltd – LS3 – has bought the IBM System 38 and System 36 versions of the Zinc financial and order processing package, developed by now-defunct Classical Computer Products Ltd, from the receiver for an undisclosed sum. The package, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets and cash management modules, is installed in 30 sites, 10 of which were supplied by LS3 in its former role of secondary distributor of the product. The acquisition follows last December’s purchase by LS3 of the System 36-based Trial legal profession software from Professional Connection and comes at the end of a financial year which LS3 managing director John Braithwaite describes as the best 12 months in the company’s history by a very long way. He expects turnover for the year to March 31 to be 50% up at around UKP5m with profits quadrupled.
