Details of the new arrangements between Stardent Computer Inc and its principal backer Kubota Corp were announced yesterday: Kubota has committed to putting up yet more money for Stardent $12m over the next 12 months – and will increase its stake to 28% from the current 21.5%. In return, its new Kubota Pacific Computers Inc subsidiary in Sunnyvale will get development and distribution rights to some models of Stardent’s graphic minisupercomputers. It is expected that the low-end models will be handled by Kubota, which currently builds all the machines in Japan and has distribution rights for the Far East.
