Dosn’t sound the sort of thing one wants to shout about exporting jobs, some would call it – but Archive Corp, Costa Mesa, California manufacturer of quarter-inch cartridge tape drives, has announced its continued commitment to offshore manufacturing: it has announced a new 141,000 square foot facility in the Jurong East Industrial Estate, in Singapore, which is due for completed by the end of next year and will be used for manufacturing, product design and development, and advanced manufacturing engineering; Archive already produces over 400,000 tape drives per year at its Singapore base, and has installed a surface mount technology line for in-house printed circuit board assembly operation.
