Internap Network Services has enhanced its content delivery network (CDN) offering, including new functions and automation of CDN capabilities.

Delivered with its Performance IP service, the enhancements deliver video streaming service that simplifies and automates content creation, management and reporting, the company said.

The company claims that its CDN provides live and on-demand video streaming with the Adobe Flash Platform, Microsoft Silverlight and iPhone formats that allows organisations to focus on content creation by streamlining the workflow for content uploading, transcoding, management and reporting.

According to Internap, the new features within its CDN MediaConsole 5.0 CDN include, integrated, rule-based transcoding that automatically converts video into formats for a broad range of devices, allowing content to reach the audience possible without additional management and development costs. The integrated adaptive bitrate for continuous bitrate adjustment to adapt to video streams based on the capabilities and bandwidth of the network, ensuring the quality video is delivered to an individual device.

In addition, CDN MediaConsole 5.0 features analytics and reporting that enables video campaign refinement through statistics for individual video streams delivered; audience geographical information; and audience viewing habits by file, directory or custom segmentation, among other capabilities.

Peter Evans, senior vice president of marketing at Internap, said: Internap’s CDN enhancements address this issue by automating the entire process from video creation to management to delivery, and then delivering superior performance with the industry’s only route-optimised CDN for video quality that you can see. This finally frees enterprises to focus on delivering valuable content to drive their business and not worry about the technology behind managing and distributing it.
