TeliaSonera Finland and Nokia Siemens Networks have signed a contract on the deployment of a 3G radio network on the 900MHz frequency.

The new network is expected to extend TeliaSonera Finland’s 3G coverage, enable mobile broadband services in the remote areas of the country and enhance service quality.

Nokia Siemens said that it will offer WCDMA/HSPA 900 radio network system to TeliaSonera Finland, including its Flexi base stations and RNC 2600 radio network controllers. The new network is expected to support fixed-mobile migration in the rural areas and save operational costs for the operator.

Esa Rautalinko, CEO of TeliaSonera Finland, said: “Our customers demand high-speed high quality 3G service wherever they are. Nokia Siemens Networks’ WCDMA/HSPA 900 solution will enable us to extend 3G coverage to the more remote areas of the country in a cost-effective way, extending the latest mobile broadband services to a growing number of customers.”
