Data warehouses are struggling to keep pace with enterprise data demands, according to a survey of 600 business intelligence and data warehousing practitioners.

The survey, by Greenplum Software and BeyeNETWORK, found that 60% or respondents believed data warehouses weren’t matching their data growth. Hardly surprising then that more than half felt their data warehouses were not storing all the data required by enterprise users and that their poor performance was hampering business activities.

The results suggest that many companies need to make changes to their data warehouse inititatives to improve the quality of information avaiable to decision makers. But despite their grumbles, more than two-thirds or respondents acknowledged that their existing data warehouse activities were already delivering competitive benefits for their business.
