Lancaster, Philadelphia-based Chili!Soft has said June 2 will be the day it will release its equivalent of Microsoft Corp’s Active Server. The company that believes in Power to the Pepper and has a web site sporting a dancing chilli, delayed the launch of Chili!ASP apparently owing to incomplete documentation. But it is now ready to go and claims the product is the only one on the market that is capable of running Active Server applications on a web server with the exception of Microsoft’s IIS 3.0. The company says Chili!ASP can host Active Server web pages and components on a series of web servers without users having to make any code changes. It runs on Netscape Communications Corp’s Enterprise and FastTrack servers for Windows NT 4.0 and enables developers to copy existing active server page applications over to Chili!ASP, create a virtual directory and run the application. The company believes it’s enabling a greater number of people to have access to, and take advantage of active server pages. Chili!Soft will announce pricing next month.
