Tektronix Inc has joined forces with Mitsubishi Electronics America Inc to develop, design and manufacture color printers. The companies will base the new printers around Tektronix’s solid ink printing technology and Tektronix and Mitsubishi say the partnership will enable faster and more economical time to market. Although the companies will not release any details relating to the terms of the agreement or future products release, Tektronix spokesperson Jennifer Jones says it is likely that the products will be aimed at the specialized graphics arena. The deal is non-exclusive and forms part of Tektronix’s plan to broaden its solid ink development, where it is appropriate, according to Jones. It is not the first time that Mitsubishi and Tektronix have worked together, with previous relationships established to work on print engines. Speaking of the deal, Jones said: Because we’ve had such a great and long relationship with Mitsubishi in the past, this is a natural step to take.
