Premier Farnell Plc, the top-heavy electronics distributor formed when Farnell Plc, Yorkshire, UK, acquired Premier Electronics Inc, has lightened the burden a little with the sale of its Farnell Electronic Services volume electronic component distribution business, for about $300m, to Arrow Electronics Inc, Melville, New York. Operating in 15 countries and annual sales of about $500m, the unit is billed as one of Europe’s leading distributors of semiconductors, passive and electromechanical components. Arrow also becomes a preferred supplier to Premier Farnell’s core catalogue business and will also source some products from it. á
