If you come up with something as fundamental as the multi-user Windows NT access software that Citrix Systems Inc has created you can be sure that at some point Bill Gates will either make you rich or make you cry. Microsoft Corp said yesterday that future versions of Windows NT will support concurrent access by multiple end users and additional remote access capabilities – the sum of Citrix’s business. Although the two companies are in negotiations about licensing terms for the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based company’s technology, Citrix has admitted that if it loses this one, if Microsoft licenses the software elsewhere or decides to develop its own, that the game will be up and it will be effectively finished, at least in this particular business. Reports that Microsoft was about to dump its minority position in Citrix were unconfirmed.
