Intermedia has unveiled a beta release of file synching service SecuriSync, which is available to hosted Exchange 2010 and hosted Exchange 2007 customers.
The company said that the file syncing service enables employees to share files across multiple computers. It allows employees to work on a document on their office computer and then open the same document from their home computer and changes made from either computer are synchronised to assure the file is always current.
According to Intermedia, the new offering integrates with a company’s active directory to add security that is critical to professional services firms and other organisations handling sensitive information. Customers can manage SecuriSync and the data stored on its servers from the same HostPilot Control Panel they use to manage hosted Exchange service.
In addition, the security benefits include, encryption of user passwords stored locally, as well as secure traffic between the SecuriSync client and servers. Redundant servers with multiple nodes are used to operate the service, and data storage is based on SAN with regular backups. SecuriSync beta customers receive unlimited storage per user. Once SecuriSync is out of beta, customers will receive 5GB of storage per user.

We built SecuriSync to address this need. It runs over the same secure infrastructure that our exchange hosting environment does — and is managed from the same central point of control. For instance, our customers have the ability to disable an employee SecuriSync account. This prevents employees who are no longer with the company from making changes to data.
