Visio International Corp has released Visio Professional 4.5, its enterprise drawing and diagram application. Visio Professional executes visualization, alignment and management of corporations, information systems and business processes. It is intended to be used in areas such as network documentation and management, Internet-intranet mapping, database design and data flow analysis, applications development, business process re- engineering and workflow design. The tool comes with Microsoft Corp’s Visual Basic for Applications, enabling Visio Professional users to boost performance. It should also require less code to be written. The inclusion of VBA means Visio Professional exposes ActiveX object models, which developers can manipulate to create solutions based on ActiveX technology. Users are also able to integrate Visio Professional into Web browsers, so that data managed by Visio Professional becomes accessible via the Internet or intranets. Visio Professional diagrams can be published straight to Web pages by converting the diagrams into HTML, GIF or JPEG formats. The software comes with 90 days of free technical support from Visio.
