NCR WINS $50M REUTER DATA WAREHOUSE EXPANSION DEAL

By CBR Staff Writer

NCR Corp reports a $50.7m contract with Reuters Holdings Plc to increase the size and capabilities of its data warehouse. It will supply Reuters with five NCR WorldMark 5100M massively parallel processing servers to be integrated with its existing NCR systems. The 5100M servers and the installed NCR 3600MPP machines, running the Teradata relational database management system and Top End transaction processing monitor, will form a 500Gb data warehouse valued at nearly $76m. The servers are to be installed in Reuters’ data center in London and a second data center is under construction in Geneva to provide back-up and load-sharing.
