Information delivery systems provider D2K Inc has teamed up with Informix Software Inc to produce an integrated data warehouse offering, bonding the two company’s technologies together. D2K’s Tapestry push knowledge distribution technology will be used with Informix’s new integrated relational online analytical processing system, MetaCube, to enable users to easily search and move through volumes of data, selecting only that that they require or are interested in. Designed for business analysts, they will be able to pull information from legacy systems, load a data warehouse or data mart and then automatically load the information to MetaCube. Informix and D2K both believe the capability resulting from the technology partnership will give users a competitive advantage when it comes to analyzing up-to- the minute information. In time, said a D2K spokesperson, the companies will load MetaCube data marts with data from exiting business application packages to form templates, which will enable users to integrate previously closed data with other corporate legacy information. Prices for the MetaCube product suite start at $40,000, and Tapestry has a base price of $75,000 for Unix, $50,000 for Windows NT. One year-old D2K is based in San Jose, California.
