3Com Corp says it will use Bristol Technology Inc’s Wind/U cross- platform development software for future Windows and Unix versions of its Transcend Enterprise Manager network management applications. Historically, 3Com had separate teams to develop and maintain the Windows and Unix versions of its product. Wind/U products enable software development for multiple platforms, including Windows 95, Windows NT, Unix, Digital Equipment Corp’s OpenVMS and IBM Corp’s OS/390, to be produced from a single source code base. 3Com insists it will speed up its development cycle, cutting cost and getting product to market quicker.
